The Role:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Protect team who will help build our next generation Insurance platform. You will have the opportunity to set technical direction for a growing and critical business function within SoFi where the overall architecture is still relatively greenfield and the business impact is high. This is a great opportunity to help shape the evolution of the team and the platform capabilities for years to come.

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Frontend Software Engineer to join our team in building a state-of-the-art insurance platform. The successful candidate will have a strong background in designing, developing, and maintaining responsive, high-performance, and secure user interfaces and experiences (UI/UX).

As a Senior Frontend Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer experiences, ensuring the performance, accessibility, and reliability of our user-facing applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and testing of our systems and services

• Participate in shaping the technical architecture of the product

• Help translate product requirements into user stories and technical solutions

• Deliver highly available and scalable services in a production environment

• Mentor other engineers, support the technical culture, and help grow the team

• Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies

• Communicate with project leads, product managers and other software developers

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field

• 5+ years programming experience, ideally on a modern stack

• Our core frontend stack includes JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTML5, and CSS

• 3+ years experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern frontend framework like React

• A solid understanding of UI/UX principles, state management (e.g., Redux, Context API), and cross-browser compatibility

• Experience integrating frontend applications with RESTful APIs or GraphQL

• Experience working with GIT and CI/CD systems

• Effective communication skills

• Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done

• Solid sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion

• Experience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests

• View Unit and Integration test as 1st class citizen in software development (especially for UI components)

Nice To Have:

• Experience scaling highly available, mission critical systems

• Full-stack experience, particularly with back-end technologies like Java/Kotlin or cloud platforms (AWS, Kubernetes)

• Insurance Industry Experience: Familiarity with the insurance industry and its specific regulatory requirements

• Experience incorporating LLMs into user flows

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
